Welcome to Tintype Photos. This is where you can commission us to take images using the Victorian wet plate collodion process.

Invented By Fredrick Scott Archer in 1851, the wet plate collodion process involves coating a piece of tin in collodion then soaked in sliver nitrate. This is now sensitive to light and is placed in a camera while still wet and exposed to the subject. It is immediately developed and the image is revealed.

Tintype Photos is one of only a handful of companies offering this opportunity to the general public in the UK.
